Terms of Service

The service

Sketchy Rides rents vehicles from our own Los Angeles fleet directly to verified drivers. Booking a car creates a binding rental agreement under these terms plus the trip details shown at checkout.

Eligibility & verification

You must be 21 or older and hold a valid driver's license. Every new renter completes identity verification (Stripe Identity) before their first trip. We may refuse or cancel a booking if verification fails or information is inaccurate.

Payment, deposit & cancellation

The trip total shown at checkout is authorized at booking. A refundable security deposit is held as a card authorization and released within 7 days of a clean return.

Cancel free of charge up to 24 hours before pickup for a full refund. Inside 24 hours, the first day is non-refundable.

Mileage & overage

Each vehicle includes a daily mileage allowance shown on its listing. Miles beyond the allowance are billed at the per-mile rate shown on the listing, charged after return.

Insurance

Trips are covered under a commercial policy bound for your trip window through our insurance partner (American Business Insurance or a partner carrier). You may decline our coverage only with verified proof of your own qualifying policy before keys are released.

You are responsible for damage, tolls, tickets, and violations during your trip window, subject to the coverage terms bound for the trip.

Pickup, delivery & return

Pickup is at our Los Angeles lot, or delivery to a validated address within our LA metro service area shown at checkout. Return the car at the agreed time with the same fuel level; late returns are billed at the daily rate plus a late fee.

Prohibited use

No smoking, no off-road use, no subletting, no rideshare or delivery work without written approval, no driving outside California without approval. Violations void coverage and may forfeit the deposit.

Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by California law, our liability is limited to the amounts paid for the affected trip. Nothing in these terms limits rights that cannot be waived under law.
